The benefits of pepper to the human body have been confirmed in many studies, including promoting vasodilation, lowering blood pressure, relieving pain, and even reducing the risk of cancer.
Now, scientists in China and Sweden claim that peppers can also improve the efficiency of solar cells. Researchers have found that adding only 0.1% by weight of capsaicin to the precursor of methylammonium lead peroxide triiodide can greatly improve the efficiency of solar cells.
In other words, a small amount of capsaicin (capsaicin is a compound that makes peppers hot) may be the secret ingredient for making more stable and efficient perovskite solar cells.
Therefore, finding a natural, forest-based, and inexpensive additive to overcome this limitation and improving the performance of solar cells has become an important direction of scientific research. In this study, the researchers said that considering the electrical, chemical, optical and stability of capsaicin, capsaicin will be a promising drug candidate.
