Failure analysis of solar battery connector

Photovoltaic connectors account for a small proportion of the cost of photovoltaic systems, but they are a key component for successful connection between devices. Connector failure will not only lead to the loss of power generation revenue, but also increase various operation and maintenance costs. The three main causes of connector failure: poor quality, connector insertion, and irregular connector installation. By paying attention to and attaching importance to small parts, it will bring more benefits to the operation and maintenance of the power station.

      1. Poor quality

From the appearance and texture of photovoltaic connectors, we can roughly understand the shape design of the product and the choice of insulation materials. However, the core indicator to measure the quality of photovoltaic connectors is the contact resistance of male and female connectors after mating. High-quality connectors must have very low contact resistance and be able to maintain this low contact resistance state for a long time.

      2. Mutual insertion of photovoltaic connectors

In the process of photovoltaic power station construction, it is very common for photovoltaic connectors of different brands to be plugged into each other. In some power stations, components, inverters and combiner boxes all use connectors from different manufacturers

      3. Irregular installation

Irregular installation is another risk that affects the overall function and profitability of photovoltaic power plants. Irregular installation here usually refers to irregular crimping, especially the crimping of the photovoltaic cable and the metal core of the photovoltaic connector.
