New underwater ROV cable fault detection device

The underwater ROV cable maintenance ship in Zhoushan City, China successfully obtained underwater ROV cable operation data through the magnetic vector underwater ROV cable fault detection device on April 20th . The device can quickly capture the submarine magnetic field signal,  and diagnose the operating status of the submarine cable, which realized rapid fault location, and improved the reliability of power supply.

The equipment is about 1 meter long and is connected to the survey ship through a data cable. The survey ship is sailing at sea, and collects the magnetic field emitted by the cable. The new signal transmits the electromagnetic field data to the computer terminal of the survey ship through an algorithm automatically. Obtaining the current data and position information of the ROV cable determined the accurate position of the cable.

The device is connected to the survey ship through a data cable. The survey ship sails on the sea, drags the detection device in the water to continuously collect the magnetic field signal from the underwater ROV cable, and transmits the electromagnetic field data to the computer terminal of the survey ship control room, and automatically obtains the underwater ROV cable current data and position information according to the algorithm to realize the underwater ROV cable Precise positioning.

"The underwater detection technology applied by the device is a technology based on military-civilian fusion. It is simply understood as performing nuclear magnetic resonance with an underwater ROV cable separated by a depth of tens of meters and a depth of two meters, and the underwater ROV cable is found based on underwater imaging. For abnormal points, the average search time for fault points can be shortened to 3 days, which greatly improves the efficiency of underwater ROV cable maintenance." said Zhang Lei, the person in charge of test technology.
